Even the most ordinary liver pate can be presented beautifully and originally. Any liver will do, and you can diversify this appetizer by adding filling, for example. And if you prepare liver pate in advance, you will get not only a tasty, but also a quick snack.

Cut the onion into half rings.

Three carrots on a grater.

Cut the liver into small pieces.

First fry the onion in a small amount of vegetable oil.

Then add carrots to it.

When the vegetables are almost ready, add the liver.

Fry everything together, stirring occasionally until the liver is ready, trying not to dry it out. At the very end, add salt to taste and ground black pepper; if desired, you can add garlic or mushrooms.

We roll each ball in whatever you like best, it is better to do this just before serving. I rolled it in chopped herbs.

Finely grated chicken yolk.

And egg white.

Chopped nuts, sesame seeds, cheese, paprika, etc. are also suitable for breading. This snack can be served in cheese baskets, on a piece of fried toast, or simply on lettuce leaves. A tasty, juicy and satisfying dish that you can serve not only on weekdays, but also on a holiday table is cod liver snack balls. They are very easy to prepare if you already have boiled mashed potatoes on hand. The puree will give the appetizer density, and the green onions will provide it with flavor. Remember that cod liver is a very high-calorie product, so those who are on a diet or following a healthy diet should limit the portion of food. Since the appetizer already contains both a meat dish and a side dish, it can only be additionally garnished with fresh vegetables or herbs.

Ingredients

  • 2 boiled chicken eggs
  • 1 bunch of green onions
  • 200 g mashed potatoes

1. Prepare mashed potatoes in advance from boiled potatoes, without adding salt to the cooking water, and let cool. Remember that when preparing a snack, you must use only chilled ingredients, otherwise you will reduce the shelf life of the dish. We also boil the chicken eggs for 15 minutes in advance and cool them in cold water, peel off the shells and rinse them. Place the mashed potatoes in a deep container. Cut the cooled chicken eggs into large cubes and add to the same container.

2. Wash the green onion stems, chop them and pour the chopped pieces into a container. Instead of green onions, you can use fresh or pickled wild garlic, green shoots of garlic.

3. Open a jar of canned “Cod Liver”, carefully pour the oil into the container and place the product itself there. Mix it with the rest of the ingredients with a fork and taste it. Often a lot of salt is added to the contents of canned food, so trying the dish is a must! If there are not enough spices, then add them to your taste.

Cod liver balls - recipe

Boil the potatoes in their jackets. After it has cooled, peel it and grate it on a fine, or maybe a medium-sized grater.

Grate the processed cheese on a medium grater.

Using the same grater, grate the hard-boiled eggs.

Dice the onion.

Place the cod liver in a bowl (without juice). Mash it with a fork until smooth.

In a deep bowl, in which it will be convenient to mix products, combine chopped eggs, processed cheese, onions, potatoes and cod liver.

Mix the ingredients for making cod balls until you obtain a paste-like mass.

The base for the cod liver balls is ready. All that remains is to form and decorate the salad (snack) balls. To prevent the fish-cheese mixture from sticking too much to your hands when making balls, it is recommended to moisten them with cold water. With hands moistened with water, form balls approximately the size of a walnut. When ready, place the balls on a plate or cutting board.

Place white sesame seeds in a small saucer. If necessary, the seeds can be fried in the oven until golden brown, in the microwave or in a dry frying pan. Place the cod liver balls in a bowl with sesame seeds and roll them on all sides.

You can additionally sprinkle the finished balls with black cumin seeds or poppy seeds on top. A ready-made appetizer for the festive table in the form of cod liver balls can be decorated not only with the help of sesame and cumin. Just like cheese balls, cod stump balls can be decorated at will with finely chopped walnuts, peanuts, almonds, pistachios, poppy seeds, dried paprika powder, fresh dill and so on.

The very same dish on which snack bars will be served cod liver balls in sesame with cheese and eggs, you can garnish with sprigs of dill, cilantro, basil, parsley or celery. I wish everyone a bon appetit.
