Fish for salad is taken from different varieties. Once upon a time it was the famous Ivasi. Nowadays, Pacific and Atlantic herring are on sale everywhere. No other parameters are indicated on the labels.

In any case, when choosing, try to avoid fish that have an unpleasant rusty color.

We need even color and integrity of the skin. A fresh, spicy smell will indicate properly and recently salted herring.

Herring under a fur coat according to the classic recipe (all layers in order)

So, for those who haven’t cooked yet, or have forgotten how to make this salad in the classic version. Prepare this dish either for a regular dinner or for a holiday table. Your family will be delighted if you prepare such a delicious dish for no reason!

When laying lettuce, it is very important to correctly distribute the sequence of layers.

Of course, no one will forbid us to arrange the vegetables as we please. However, this will ruin the traditional taste of the dish.

The fish is below, and we add chopped onion to it. Potatoes go with herring and onions, and then carrots and beets. Eggs are sprinkled on top of the salad.

We will need:

  • 1 lightly salted herring
  • 2 potatoes
  • 2 carrots
  • 1 beet
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 chicken eggs
  • 150 grams of mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • greens for decoration

Step-by-step preparation:

1. First of all, I boil all the vegetables in their jackets. I will cook the potatoes and carrots in the microwave in a bag, it will work out faster. Let the beets be cooked in the standard way.

To cool the vegetables quickly, place them in cold water.

2. So, I clean everything and chop each vegetable on a coarse grater into a separate bowl. I peel the onion, finely chop it and pour boiling water over it for seven minutes, then add vinegar and leave it until needed. You can also add a drop of sugar and salt to this brine if you wish.

3. Boil the eggs, then cool them in cold water and pass them through a fine grater. I grate the yolks separately from the whites. One half of the top layer will be white, and the second yellow.

4. I cut off the head and tail of the herring, then clean it of the skin, entrails and bones. If you don’t like to bother with cleaning fish, now all stores sell already cleaned fillets. I cut the fillet into small cubes as in this photo. Now all the ingredients are ready and you can assemble the salad.

5. Place the mold on the plate in which the dish will be based. You can make either one large or several small molds, or both. And first I put pieces of herring, then chopped onions, then potatoes and coat with mayonnaise.

6. Now, in turn, carrots, mayonnaise, beets and again the mayonnaise mesh. I put the plate in the refrigerator for three hours. After the time has passed, I put the final layer - grated whites around the edges, and the yolks in the middle of the salad.

Just before serving, I remove the mold and decorate with sprigs of herbs. The salad has thickened, the layers are clearly visible. A real classic herring under a fur coat is ready! Eat with pleasure!

Preparation:

1. Of course, first of all I boil carrots and beets in their peels. You can cook all this in the microwave, at your discretion. I cool the vegetables in cold water, peel them and pass them through a coarse grater.

2. Finely chop the onion and put it in boiling water for 5-7 minutes to remove the bitterness. If you like, you can make it lightly pickled by adding a spoonful of vinegar. When time has passed, I put it on a sieve to drain the liquid.

3. The eggs are hard-boiled and cooled in cold water, which makes them easier to peel. Now you need to grate them on a coarse grater. Three whole.

4. Peel the apples and remove the core and tails. Now I grind them on a coarse grater. It is better to take varieties with a slight sourness, but not too sour or sweet.

5. I clean the herring from the entrails, head, tail, skin and seeds. I cut the fillet into small cubes. Now all the ingredients are ready and you can assemble them into a single composition. So, first of all, the herring goes into the salad bowl, then the onion. Next I apply a mesh of mayonnaise.

6. Then apples, eggs, carrots and beets complete the composition. Don't forget to coat each layer with a small amount of mayonnaise.

7. Now you need to let it stand in the refrigerator for a couple of hours for soaking. Before serving, decorate the top with sprigs of herbs, or as your imagination dictates.

Step-by-step recipe for herring under a fur coat roll

Whatever our housewives and chefs can come up with to make the dish look more original. And here you have it - salad roll. This photo shows the same herring, but in a more beautiful and rich coat.

This presentation is very original and never fails to attract the attention of guests.

You've noticed that I don't use salt. The fact is that the mayonnaise with which the salad is soaked is itself quite salty. But salty lovers can add salt to their liking.

Save the recipe. After all, the housewives will definitely ask you for it.

Product composition:

  • 3 pieces lightly salted herring
  • 5 pieces medium carrots
  • 3 medium beets
  • 3 potatoes
  • 2 medium onions
  • Parsley or other greens for decoration
  • Mayonnaise

Preparation:

1. I cook all vegetables in their uniforms “in batches” in the microwave. This is very convenient, but you can, of course, boil it in a saucepan the classic way. Then I cool everything, peel it and grate it separately on a fine grater.

2. Now, since I’m making a roll, in order for it to hold together better, you need to remove excess moisture from the carrots and beets.

Of course, you don’t need to squeeze anything out of the potatoes.

To do this, take gauze or a mesh and squeeze these vegetables separately, squeezing out the excess juice.

3. Chop the onion very finely and, to remove the bitterness, pour boiling water over it for seven minutes. If you wish, you can add a spoonful of vinegar. But no more, so that the vinegar does not interrupt the taste of the salad. Then I put it on a sieve.

4. I clean the fish from heads, tails, entrails, skin and bones. Then I cut it into small cubes. Or buy ready-made fillets in the store, less hassle. Everything is ready to form the roll.

5. I spread the cling film in several layers and lay out the beets first. I level it into a rectangle shape and spread a little mayonnaise. Then add carrots in an even layer. Here the width will be smaller than the previous layer and will further decrease. Now, to make the roll denser, I put a plastic bag on top and press down lightly.

6. Then a layer of potatoes is applied to the carrots, again the procedure with the bag, then mayonnaise. Next I place the onion on top. And finally it was the herring’s turn. Place the pieces of herring in a path in the very middle.

7. So, now I take the bottom and top of the film relative to the length of the layout and join it carefully, overlapping. I roll it a little to compact it. I transfer it to a dish, remove the cellophane and cover the roll with it. I place it in the cold for 3 hours.

After the required time has passed, I take out the roll and decorate it with mayonnaise mesh and parsley. Well, it turned out to be not so difficult to prepare a herring roll under a fur coat. But the original presentation gives the dish a special chic.

Herring under a green coat - original salad design

Sometimes you want to change the basic rules and replace the salad ingredients with lighter, summer ones. I suggest you prepare herring under a fur coat with fresh cucumbers and herbs, and also with your favorite cheese.

The appetizer is interesting and very appetizing, perfect for a holiday table. It can be prepared for any event, it is very convenient, especially in a buffet format.

In addition to the usual set of ingredients, you need to take a couple more cakes. We have already discussed recipes earlier. Today we will wrap the filling from products for herring under a fur coat in such a roll.

What you will need:

  • Lightly salted herring 1 piece
  • Potatoes 2 pieces
  • 1 carrot
  • Beetroot 2 pieces
  • Eggs 2 pieces
  • Pack of mayonnaise
  • Lavash 2 pieces

Preparation:

1. First of all, boil the eggs, as well as potatoes, carrots and beets. Then fill it all with cold water. When the food has cooled, peel it. Lavash should be cut into halves.

2. Clean the fish from skin and bones and cut into fillets. Then cut into cubes.

3. Spread a little mayonnaise on the first half of the pita bread. And immediately grate the potatoes onto the pita bread using a coarse grater. Then place the herring cubes on top and cover with the other half of the flatbread. Press well and compact.

Components:

  • Lightly salted herring - 1 pc.
  • Beetroot - 1 pc.

  • Carrot - 1 pc.
  • Potatoes -2 pcs.
  • Mayonnaise and/or sour cream - 150-200 gr.
  • Gelatin - 1 tablespoon (15 grams)
  • Water - 1/3 cup

How to prepare the salad:

1. So, first of all, boil vegetables and eggs. Then cool everything and peel it. Cut into small cubes or grate. Choose for yourself what you like best.

2. The head and tail of the fish are cut off, the insides are scraped out and the skin is removed. Next, the bones are removed and the resulting fillet is also cut into cubes.

3. Pour gelatin with water and leave for ten minutes. Then heat it in the microwave for about half a minute until it blooms completely.

4. Pour a little of the resulting sauce into the beets and mix, and then place tightly in the mold. Now repeat the same procedure with the herring, this is the next layer.

5. We do the same with potato and then with carrot cubes. Add the final layer of egg; if you don’t like it, don’t add it.

Place the salad in this form in the refrigerator for 3-4 hours. The gelatin will harden and when serving you can cut off pieces of fish.

Then I simply turn it over onto a nice platter. If desired, you can further decorate it, for example with greenery. Happy holidays and bon appetit!

Herring salad under a fox coat without beets

I can’t miss another salad that is original in taste and composition. The red beet coat on this fish will be replaced with a red fox coat.

An elegant and satisfying dish with the addition of fried mushrooms will please all guests.

For the salad we will take:

  • Lightly salted herring - 250 grams
  • Champignons - 100-150 grams
  • Onion - 1 piece
  • Eggs - 4 pieces.
  • Carrots - 2 medium
  • Potatoes - 200 grams
  • Mayonnaise - for dressing
  • Sunflower oil - for frying

Preparation:

1. Finely chop the onion and fry until golden brown. Cut the champignons into slices and add them to the onion in the pan. Fry until all the liquid has evaporated. Then remove from the heat so that the whole mass cools down. You can add salt and pepper to taste, but I find that there is enough salt in mayonnaise.

2. Boil jacket potatoes and eggs. Cool everything in cold water and clean it. We cut the herring into fillets. Next, cut everything into small cubes. You can grate the potatoes on a coarse grater.

3. Now mix all the prepared ingredients in a large bowl with mayonnaise. Place in a beautiful salad bowl.

If you don’t want extra calories, don’t fry the carrots, but boil them along with the potatoes.

4. Here we take raw carrots. We grind it on a grater and send it to fry in sunflower oil until completely cooked. It should turn out soft. I remove from the heat and let it cool a little. And then I cover the salad tightly with carrot mixture and decorate with herbs.

Herring under a fox fur coat is ready! It turned out bright, beautiful and very tasty. You can also put the salad in the shape of a chanterelle's face, using a boiled egg and olives. Eat to your health!

4. Mix the beet mass, onion and yolk in a bowl with two tablespoons of mayonnaise. The finer you chop the onion, the easier it will be to achieve a uniform consistency.

5. Now I stuff the whites with this mixture. I put it on, as they say, with a slide. And then I put a piece of herring on top of each and decorate with herbs.

Well, the lazy herring under a fur coat is ready. I would even say that this herring is not under, but ON the fur coat. However, it is very tasty and original.
